XTOOL AD20 PRO

XTool is a great company that has been making some really impressive products lately. (They also have responsive tech support and customer service) I bought the AD20 Pro to check for codes and have used it on two vehicles so far, a 2017 Kia Sedona and a 2006 Toyota Matrix. Bottom line - this is a compact and intuitive yet powerful diagnostic and scanning tool that can give live data and perform many functions that more expensive and bulky OBD2 scanners can accomplish (like the XTool DB7, DB8, and DB9 scan tools). Of course it won't do those high-end maintenance functions either, but it is perfect for scanning, troubleshooting, resetting codes/maintenance, general DIY use!

The device itself is very compact, clean, and solidly built. It's possible to leave this plugged into your car fulltime to give continuous monitoring data (mpg, temps, fuel data). Using the AD20 scanner requires the Advancer AD20 app - which exceeded my expectations. The app is clean, fast, and very intuitive. I plugged the scanner in, turned the car on, and paired the device. It automatically detected the vehicle vin, make/model, and once confirmed and saved - it was a simple step-by-step process to start running diagnostic tests. I ran a battery test and it took less than minute start to finish. I then ran the full diagnostic scan and found a trouble code - which I was able to hit and search on chrome to find out for a complete description of the issue (in my case, a CAN fault for the rear lift gate).

You literally can have zero knowledge or experience on using a OBD2 scanner - the device and app is extremely intuitive and well designed, as well as being fast and aesthetically pleasing. There are more features than the average DIYer will likely use. For me, this fits my needs and performs exceptionally well. Great job XTool!

This XTOOL AD20 Pro is a great scan tool for the price! The ability to do a full system scan and see trouble codes is very useful all by itself. I also like that you can see some of the most important sensors in the live data section. For example, you can see the short and long term fuel trims of your engine update live. This will come in handy with some engine diagnostics I'm working no right now.

I also have the XTOOL A30M scan tool which I bought for DIY vehicle repairs at home. The A30M is almost 5 times the price, so it does have additional features. But the AD20 Pro has a more intuitive user interface. I'd recommend this AD20 Pro scan tool to almost anyone. Even if you don't want to work on your car yourself, it's good to be able to hook up a code reader and see why the check engine light just came on. Is there a catastrophic issue or a loose gas cap for example. XTOOL has good customer support too. I emailed them with a question for my other scan tool and had a response within 24 hours.

As the only mechanic in my family I'm constantly asked to look at family members cars, after doing some research I found this wireless OBD2 scanner from XTOOL that can be linked to a mobile phone or tablet and with the use of an app can access/diagnose/clear fault codes on most makes & models, its also got free software for life and its so easy to use...will be buying more of these as christmas presents.

This worked great the single time I've used it so far. I have a scanner from another vendor that requires a costly subscription to use any of it's features so for less than that subscription I got the same functionality with the AD20 Pro. It does all the basic stuff that these things can do like check DCT's and emissions status, but it also has the ability to clear codes from other modules. I occasionally get ABS error codes and this thing was able to clear them out without issue. I like it so far!

I was shocked at how well this scan tool worked and at all the different systems that it analyzed. I have owned a couple of OBDII scanners before and this one goes so much more in depth. This would be great to check your car out before you go on a trip to avoid potential breakdowns. Also you can check to see if your battery is close to dying and avoid getting stranded. Not to mention knowing what you need to get repaired or replaced before going in to a repair shop. Great tool
