After finding reviews on Youtube, this device was the best in the market thanks to unlimited updates. It not only reads codes well, but is excellent at bi-directional communication to graph, actuate, reset codes and more. The application on iPhone is clear, easy to use, and goes all the way to a Pro grade tool without the expense.

This bidirectional tool has the same features as a D7 minus a couple of service options. It's not as powerful as the D8 or D9 but for troubleshooting live data and and half the price with free lifetime updates, this is the tool you need. I have used this tool extensively and have a couple of others like the snap-on, alltel, maxsys, launch. I would grab this and or my D8 before grabbing the others here's why, it reads much faster and more complete than the others, live data is instantaneous unlike others with a delay, there are several special functions in each vehicle manufacturer unlike others with only 30 functions and nothing else. It has lifetime updates while others you have to pay for. And you can install it on any device may it be an apple, android, phone tablet, fire tablet etc.

So I've only had this for a few days so far, coming from using shop Scanners from Matco and snap on I am pleasantly surprised at the amount of features and bidirectional capabilities of this little device. I have tested it on multiple cars so far as I have my own personal shop and the amount of diagnosis that I was able to complete versus using a traditional hand scanner is by far shocking. For example I had a truck here that I needed to do some actuator controls as well as a automated bleed and up until now you need a $10,000 Snap-On scanner to do this little device did right for my cell phone.. This will be my new go to scanner and diagnostic tool for the foreseeable future.. If I find things that I don't like I will update in the future but as of now I give this an easy five stars coming from 25 years in commercial automotive repair... The only one dock I give a star is the only user interface it could use a little bit more intuitiveness maybe the company should think about bringing in some more technicians from across the country and just getting there say and try and streamline the interface just a little bit more but I can't complain it only takes a second or two to figure out oh wait let me go back one step..

I bought this tool, because I was tired of my generic OBD-II reader. My generic reader would not allow for specific codes associated with the different vehicles that I work on. This reader has mapping that is specific to almost every model of car. I have used it on my Ford, I used it on my Toyota, and I used it on my friends BMW. It was very to use in all cases. Not only does it read and clear codes, it also provides various services such as resetting your battery monitoring system (often have to do in the newer models when you change your battery). There were also two occasions when I wasn¡¯t sure how to use it and I contacted XTool and their tech-support got back to me right away with excellent answers to help me learn how to use the new tool. I am not a professional mechanic, but I do like to work on cars and so far give this tool to thumbs up.
